SAFETY GLASSES: We can order safety frames, with or without side shields. We only use Polycarbonate lens material for these glasses - the type used for bullet-proof glass.

1980
On the beaches of Maui, a small company began selling sunglasses – a natural business to be in, considering Hawaii’s near constant sunny climate. But before long, they realized no sunglasses on the market – not even their own, could combat the fierce glare and harmful ultraviolet rays. A revolution was about to start…
1986 Accomplishing what was thought to be impossible, the fledgling company developed PolarizedPlus®, unprecedented technology that eliminated glare without compromising the island’s vibrant colors. PolarizedPlus® was then incorporated into seven new sunglass styles – their Classic Collection. And with that, Maui Jim was born.
1991 Until this point, Maui Jims were accessible only to those lucky enough to live on or visit the island. But with the purchase of Maui Jim by Hester Enterprises, unmatched sun protection and glorious color now had the potential to be experienced by millions the world over.
1994  MJ makes its way across the Pacific! Hester enlists RLI Vision Corporation of Peoria, Illinois to be the mainland distributor of Maui Jim Sunglasses for the ophthalmic market.
2002  • Hotter than ever, Maui Jim opens an office in Mexico.
• From the Titanium Sport collection, Maui Jim’s “Ka’anapali” is named “Gear of the Year” in Outside Magazine’s Annual Buyer’s Guide.
• Maui Jim is presented with the prestigious U.S. Department of Commerce’s Export Achievement Certificate.
2004  • Hotter than ever, Maui Jim opens an office in Mexico.

• Maui Jim launches the MJ Shields line, starting yet another sunglass revolution.
